Meet Colburn

Colburn

Age: 2 years old Sex: Male Breed: Mastiff   Weight: 102 pounds Good In Home With: Dogs

Colburn is a Mastiff.

If  you know Mastiffs, you know that somewhere behind those enormous paws, thoughtful eyes, and magnificent head lives a philosopher who has been contemplating the meaning of life since approximately birth.

Colburn is no exception.

He’s a young gentleman with an old soul, a heart full of kindness, and a personal philosophy that life is best experienced alongside the people you love.

We imagine he journals.

Mostly about the weather, his friendships, the emotional significance of a good nap, and whether humans truly understand how lucky they are to have dogs.

He has strong feelings about autumn.

The crisp air. The changing leaves. The long walks that lead nowhere in particular. The way the afternoon sun settles across a comfortable floor.

Fall is his favorite season, and being with his people is his favorite sport.

Colburn was found running the streets of Chicago, a rather unusual beginning for a boy who seems so naturally suited to the finer things in life.

Thankfully, he found his way into our Pack and is now enjoying foster life alongside other dogs, making friends and settling into the beautiful business of belonging.

Extremely friendly, deeply affectionate, and carrying that unmistakable Mastiff combination of enormous presence and extraordinary gentleness with spurts of goofball.

Colburn believes in evolution.

Not necessarily the scientific debate, although we’re sure he’d have thoughtful opinions.

He believes in the evolution of a life.

That a dog can go from wandering city streets to discovering the comfort of a home. That strangers can become friends. That a foster family can become the beginning of an entirely new world and with a little kindness and consistency, life can become something even better than it was yesterday.

Colburn isn’t particularly interested in being the center of the universe.

He’d just like to be somewhere near the center of yours.

Perhaps beside you on an autumn walk.

Resting at your feet while you read.

Enjoying the company of another dog.

Supervising dinner preparations, or quietly contemplating the mysteries of the universe from a very comfortable couch.

He’s a Mastiff, after all.

A gentleman. A philosopher. A friend.

A young soul with an old heart who understands that the greatest adventures don’t always require traveling very far.

They begin when you finally find your people.

Colburn is ready to write that chapter, and he would very much like his Forever to be in it.
