Meet Ricky

Ricky

Age: 9 months old Sex: Male Breed: Terrier Wire Haired mix Weight: 36 pounds Good In Home With: Dogs, Kids

Ricky isn’t just a dog—he’s a wire-haired magician in training, and his favorite trick is making people fall in love with him before they even realize it’s happening AND he's fuzzy!

At just 9 months old and 36 perfectly-packed pounds, Ricky moves through the world like a little spell: curious eyes, scruffy coat, and a face that looks like it’s permanently asking, “What are we learning today?” He’s the kind of boy who sits and listens when you read out loud, tilts his head at all the right moments, and then curls up at your feet like he’s bookmarking the chapter with his heart. He loves puzzles—food puzzles, brain games, figuring out how things work—and he tackles them with the seriousness of a tiny professor with bedhead.

They say he’s a marble collection, and it fits. He’s all unique colors and textures and little swirls of personality: a bit of clown, a bit of scholar, a bit of mountain goat. He loves to climb—couches, logs, small hills, your lap if you’ll let him—and he’ll happily turn any day into an adventure. Take him on a hike and he’s in his element, trotting ahead with his nose to the wind, checking back to make sure his people are keeping up. Take him to the dog beach and he’s that kid at the playground who becomes best friends with everyone in under five minutes.

Despite all that fun energy, there’s something very gentle and innocent about Ricky. He’s sweet in that soft, honest way that can’t be faked: the way he leans into your leg, the way his tail swishes when you say his name, the way he glows when he realizes you are happy. He’s social and kind with dogs and humans alike, always ready to play but just as happy to sit beside you and observe the world like it’s the best movie ever made.

Underneath his scruffy charm and clever brain, Ricky is wishing for one very simple magic trick: he wants a family to call his own. A person or people who will hike with him, laugh with him, let him “help” with their reading and work, and then end the day with a snuggle and a sigh. If you’ve been looking for an all-around buddy—a hiking partner, a beach friend, a co-pilot for life’s daily puzzles—Ricky is ready to pack up his marbles, his books, and his big hopeful heart and go home with you.
