Meet Star
star
Age: 4 years old Sex: Female Breed: Lab mix Weight: 64 pounds Good in Home with: Dogs, Kids
Four years old. 64 pounds. A whole universe of love waiting for somewhere to land.
Star’s name feels especially fitting because even when life changes course, some lights simply refuse to go out.
Star and her sister Amber came into our care under circumstances no family should have to face. Their dad loved them deeply, but when immigration enforcement forced him to flee, the life they had known together was suddenly turned upside down.
There was no lack of love here.
There was simply a family caught in circumstances beyond their control.
While the humans were navigating heartbreak, two dogs needed a village to make sure their world didn’t fall apart.
That’s where foster care stepped in.
A home. Familiar routines. Gentle reassurance. People who understood that these girls weren’t looking to be rescued from a bad life. They were trying to make sense of losing one they had loved.
Star has been finding her way forward.
At four years old, she’s at that beautiful age where a dog has grown into herself but still has an entire world of experiences waiting ahead.
64 pounds of possibility.
Star deserves the ordinary magic of belonging. A familiar voice in the morning. A walk with nowhere urgent to be. A comfortable place to rest. A family whose days become intertwined with hers.
Her story is a reminder that rescue isn’t always about what happened to a dog.
At times it’s about what happened around them, and how a community responds when someone needs help.
Star has already known the love of a family. Our hope is that she gets to know it again, with all the security, joy, and companionship that should fill the years ahead.
She isn’t defined by the circumstances that brought her here.
She’s a whole beautiful individual with a future still waiting to be written.
There is a family out there whose world is about to get a little brighter.
Come meet Star.
There’s plenty of light left in this girl.
