Meet Hershey

Hersey

Age: 8 months old Sex: Female Breed: Pitbull Weight: 42 pounds Good In Home With: Dogs, Kids, Cats

She faced her big battle before the world even knew her name.

Lepto came for her when she was just a little thing—too young to understand what was happening, but old enough to choose to stay. Her tiny body fought a giant fight, and somehow, through fluids and meds and quiet prayers whispered into her fur, she made it. She walked out of that chapter a survivor before she was even eight months old.

Now, at 8 months and 42 soft, magical pounds, she’s in foster care living the life she almost didn’t get to have—and oh, is she living it.

She spends her days dancing with dogs, weaving through her friends like a little comet of joy. She sings with the birds in the yard, head tilted up as if she understands every note. She makes newspaper collections, crinkling and arranging the pages as if she’s building something important: houses, airplanes, maybe entire cities made of dreams and headlines. In the kitchen, she’s a sous-chef with a wagging tail, helping “cook breakfast” and supervising every move like she’s making sure the day starts with love.

There’s something about her that feels like a lesson and a blessing at the same time. She moves through the world with a quiet, soft-spoken grace, but her presence is huge. Her soul feels like it reaches past the room, past the street, into some brighter place where the good in the world is undeniable. She believes in that good. You can see it in the way she looks at people, the way she trusts again, the way she leans her body into yours like she’s pouring hope into your bones.

Her coat, her eyes, her very being are like a map of stars and galaxies—complex and vast, yet simple in the way that truth is simple. She is beauty and love waiting to be understood and cherished. Once she feels safe, the shyness melts into something wonderful: she becomes playful, silly, and sweet, her inner puppy tumbling out in floppy paws and gentle zoomies. And still, beneath it all, she holds this calm, older-than-her-years wisdom, like she comes from a bloodline of magical beauty and good witches who whispered courage into her as she slept.

She loves other dogs with her whole heart and can’t get enough of being surrounded by her friends. A home with dog siblings, people who like exploring outdoors, and hearts willing to slow down and see her would be her dream come true.

She’s not just a foster dog. She’s a warrior. A survivor. A story to be told again and again. She’s the kind of soul you don’t want to miss knowing—the kind that quietly makes the world better just by being in it.
