Ralphie came into Chicago Animal Care & Control with a leg that was terribly mangled, and somehow, even then, the boy carried nothing but kindness, forgiveness, and gentle grit. He’s a warrior survivor in the softest form, the kind who could’ve come out hard, but instead came out tender.

After an amputation and the removal of 12 teeth, Ralphie is on the other side of the hard part and stepping into his real life, one brave, wiggly day at a time. He’s only 1 year old, about 40 lbs, and he’s just getting into his greatest self.

The best part: he’s a total snuggle bug. A certified little spoon. A lap dog, a brindle marble eyed baby tripod buffalo and would happily crawl into your chest like he’s pocket sized. He loves other dogs, loves people, and loves love, the kind that makes you feel like you’ve finally got something real.

Ralphie is ready to rock and roll, be loved, and love harder..
